Cuticuris-25 by Biocuris is an ultra-low-strength, versatile atypical antipsychotic formulation containing Quetiapine Fumarate Tablets IP 25mg, developed under the trusted brand promise — “Quality with Integrity” and the Mindshift by Biocuris initiative. This 25mg strength is the lowest available dose of quetiapine, specifically designed for ultra-cautious dose initiation, geriatric use, patients with significant hepatic impairment, and off-label low-dose applications such as insomnia associated with psychiatric conditions.
Quetiapine is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic with a unique and broad pharmacological profile. It exhibits antagonist activity at multiple neurotransmitter receptors, including serotonin 5-HT₁A and 5-HT₂A receptors, dopamine D₁ and D₂ receptors, histamine H₁ receptors, and alpha-1 and alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. Quetiapine’s active metabolite, norquetiapine, contributes additional norepinephrine reuptake inhibition and 5-HT₁A agonism, enhancing its antidepressant and mood-stabilizing properties.
Ultra-Low Strength – 25mg for cautious initiation, geriatric, and hepatic impairment.
Insomnia Relief – Low-dose quetiapine (25–100mg) effective for sleep maintenance.
Maximum Titration Flexibility – Allows precise, stepwise dose escalation.
Minimized Initial Side Effects – Reduces first-dose sedation and dizziness.
Lowest Effective Dose Strategy – Ideal for sensitive patients and low-dose maintenance.
1. What is Cuticuris-25 used for?
It is used for ultra-low-dose initiation of quetiapine therapy, elderly patients, those with liver disease, and off-label for insomnia and anxiety. The 25mg strength allows very cautious starting doses.
2. Is 25mg enough to treat insomnia?
Yes, low-dose quetiapine (25–100mg at bedtime) is effective for sleep maintenance and sleep initiation, especially when insomnia is associated with mood disorders or anxiety. Lower doses are often sufficient for sleep without daytime sedation.
3. What are the common side effects at 25mg?
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and increased appetite. Weight gain and metabolic changes are less pronounced at 25mg than at higher doses but still require monitoring with long-term use.
4. Can I take Cuticuris-25 for anxiety?
Low-dose quetiapine (25–150mg daily) has evidence for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). However, it is used off-label when standard treatments (SSRIs, SNRIs) are ineffective or poorly tolerated. Always consult your psychiatrist.
5. How should I stop taking Cuticuris-25?
Do not stop abruptly even at 25mg, as withdrawal can cause insomnia, nausea, headache, and rebound anxiety. Your doctor will taper the dose gradually over several weeks to safely discontinue therapy.
