FAQs:
1. What is Cipcuris-500 used for?
It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, typhoid fever, bone infections, prostatitis, and infectious diarrhoea. It does not work for viral infections like colds or flu.
2. How should I take this medicine?
Take exactly as prescribed, usually every 12 hours (twice daily). Swallow tablets whole with plenty of water. Do not take with dairy products alone (milk, yoghurt) as calcium reduces absorption.
3. What are the common side effects?
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, and rash. Serious side effects like tendon pain/swelling, nerve pain, or mood changes require immediate medical attention.
4. Can I take it with other medicines?
Avoid taking with antacids, iron, zinc, or calcium supplements within 6 hours before or 2 hours after Cipcuris-500. Inform your doctor if you take blood thinners (warfarin) or theophylline.
5. What is the tendon risk with ciprofloxacin?
Ciprofloxacin increases the risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture, especially in people over 60, those taking steroids, or with kidney transplants. Stop and seek help if you develop tendon pain or swelling.
