R-Domis DSR Capsules by Biocuris is an advanced dual-action formulation containing Rabeprazole Sodium (Enteric Coated – 20mg) and Domperidone (Sustained Release – 30mg). Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that is known for its faster onset of action compared to other PPIs like omeprazole or pantoprazole. It irreversibly blocks the gastric H+/K+ ATPase enzyme, reducing both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion. The enteric coating (EC) protects rabeprazole from degradation by stomach acid, ensuring it reaches the small intestine for optimal absorption. Domperidone is a prokinetic and antiemetic agent that blocks peripheral dopamine D2 receptors, increasing lower esophageal sphincter pressure, enhancing gastric emptying, and preventing nausea and vomiting. The sustained release (SR) technology provides consistent domperidone levels over 12–24 hours with a single dose.
Rabeprazole offers several advantages over other PPIs including faster onset (acid suppression begins within 1 hour), higher degree of acid control, and more predictable bioavailability regardless of food intake. It also has fewer drug interactions due to less dependence on the CYP2C19 liver enzyme pathway.
Rapid acid suppression within 1 hour
Once-daily sustained relief for 24 hours
Controls nausea, vomiting & bloating
Enteric-coated rabeprazole for targeted delivery
Faster healing of erosive esophagitis
1. How is rabeprazole different from other PPIs like omeprazole or pantoprazole?
Rabeprazole has a faster onset of action (acid suppression within 1 hour) and fewer drug interactions due to less dependence on liver enzymes.
2. Can I take R-Domis DSR with food?
Take it 30–60 minutes before breakfast for best results. Food delays absorption and reduces effectiveness if taken together.
3. Is once-daily dosing sufficient for domperidone in this capsule?
Yes, the sustained release (SR) technology maintains therapeutic domperidone levels for 24 hours, unlike regular domperidone which requires multiple daily doses.
4. How long does it take for rabeprazole to heal an ulcer?
Duodenal ulcers typically heal within 4 weeks, while gastric ulcers may take 6–8 weeks of continuous therapy with R-Domis DSR.
5. Can I crush the capsule if I have trouble swallowing?
No, crushing destroys the enteric coating of rabeprazole and the sustained release mechanism of domperidone, making it ineffective.
